TATA Advanced Systems Unveils a Homegrown 30mm Crewless Turret for Upcoming Armored Platforms

The 30mm Crewless Turret is an unmanned, remote-controlled weapon station designed to be installed on a variety of armored vehicles, such as Armored Personnel Carriers and Infantry Combat Vehicles.

Anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), smoke grenade launchers, a 7.62mm coaxial PKT machine gun, and a 30x165mm automatic cannon make up its main armament. Versatility against infantry, armored threats, and aerial targets is ensured by this stacked weapon packageThe turret can engage threats in a variety of urban and terrain conditions thanks to its 360° continuous rotation and elevation range of up to +65°.

While the integrated fire control system maximizes the likelihood of a first-round hit by combining sophisticated sensors, laser rangefinders, and stabilized commander and gunner sights, an AI-enabled automatic target tracking system improves accuracy by locking onto moving targets.

These characteristics enable precise firing even when the vehicle is moving, which is a crucial benefit in contemporary mechanized warfare.

The turret’s MIL-STD-compliant design guarantees durability and compatibility with international defense systems. Its all-electric gun control system reduces mechanical complexity and increases dependability while offering smooth maneuverability.

The system greatly improves crew survivability by moving operators inside the vehicle hull, minimizing exposure to opposing fire and lowering the possibility of casualties from strikes specific to turrets.

Because of its modular design, the turret may be integrated with a variety of platforms, such as the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WHAP 8×8), which was created in collaboration with TASL and DRDO. This amphibious vehicle, which has already been shipped to Morocco, shows how versatile the turret is for both local and foreign markets.
