Western countries have strongly criticized India’s recent decision to negotiate a $4 billion defense contract with Russia for the purchase of the cutting-edge Voronezh radar system. Russia’s Almaz-Antey Corporation created the Voronezh radar, a sophisticated early-warning system that can identify threats like fighter jets, ballistic missiles, and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) at great distances. It can track several objects at once and has a vertical detection range of over 8,000 kilometers.
It is anticipated that this radar system will greatly improve India’s situational awareness in key areas, such as China and the Indian Ocean, helping it to handle changing security threats.
