The President of Sri Lanka Leaves on His First International Trip to India

On December 15, 2024, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the president of Sri Lanka, left for India, his first official overseas trip since assuming office in September 2024. His visit, which is important because it intends to improve diplomatic ties between India and Sri Lanka, will last until December 17.

President Dissanayake is expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian President Droupadi Murmu during this tour. A number of bilateral topics will be discussed, such as regional security, economic cooperation, and Sri Lankan reconciliation initiatives. With Dissanayake attending a prominent business gathering in New Delhi, the visit is also anticipated to strengthen economic and investment ties between the two countries.
