During his meeting with PM Modi, President Xi emphasized the need of improving relations: Chinese FM Yi Wang

Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the significance of strengthening ties with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a recent meeting on October 23, 2024, at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. Following increased tensions following the 2020 military confrontations at the two countries’ border, this was their first formal meeting in five years.

President Xi emphasized that both nations are in a critical stage in their modernization initiatives and emphasized the necessity of improved cooperation and communication in order to properly manage disputes. He said that rather than seeing one another as dangers, China and India should see each other as chances for growth.

Both presidents concurred that keeping their disputed border peaceful is of utmost importance. Modi emphasized the need for stability in border regions while restating that their relationship should be based on mutual respect and trust.

The leaders decided to use the current procedures to resolve boundary disputes and talked about the value of strategic communication. In order to protect their interests and promote world stability, they pledged to cooperate on a number of fronts, including multilateral forums.

Later, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed these remarks, saying that both countries are dedicated to restoring mutual respect and understanding via continued communication and collaboration.
