The Philadelphia medical plane crash claimed seven lives and injured nineteen.

On Friday night, February 1, 2025, a devastating plane crash occurred in Philadelphia, resulting in seven fatalities and 19 injuries. Minutes after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, a Learjet 55, a medical transport aircraft, crashed on its way to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri and then on to Tijuana, Mexico.

The collision happened close to Roosevelt Mall in Northeast Philadelphia at approximately 6:30 PM EST.

The disaster claimed the lives of all six people on board, including a pediatric patient and her mother, who were all Mexican citizens. There was also one individual on the ground who was killed while inside a car.

On the ground, 19 individuals suffered injuries of various intensities. Specific ailments were not provided, however some received treatment at nearby hospitals.


The cause of the collision is being looked into by both federal and local authorities. In order to learn more about the circumstances leading up to the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is actively searching for the cockpit voice recorder. Witnesses described a huge explosion that left debris all over the place and caused multiple house fires.

This is a continuing crisis, Mayor Cherelle Parker said, adding that the number of casualties may vary as further investigations are conducted. To help individuals impacted by this catastrophe, the city has gathered resources.

In addition to taking lives, the collision seriously damaged surrounding residences and automobiles.
