INDO-MIM, a global leader in metal injection moulding (MIM) technologies, has partnered with Thales Australia to produce precise small-arms components.
This collaboration strategically integrates India’s advanced precision manufacturing capabilities with Australia’s sovereign defence industrial initiatives, strengthening bilateral defense supply-chain integration within the growing India-Australia comprehensive strategic framework.
The collaboration focuses on producing firearm-grade MIM components that fulfill strict global requirements, as well as assisting Thales’ Lithgow weapons facility, which is Australia’s center of competence for small weapons research, design, and fabrication.
INDO-MIM’s competence in producing durable, lightweight, high-tolerance parts for global firearm OEMs complements Thales’ long-standing expertise in weapon system integration and lifecycle support for the Australian defence force.
The relationship between INDO-MIM and Thales strengthens supply chains and fosters regional defense self-reliance by combining their cost-effective mass production capabilities.
It also puts Indian defense production as a vital contributor to Australian and Indo-Pacific industrial networks, consistent with larger government-to-government collaboration on defence technologies and industrial growth.
This collaboration highlights how Indian private sector actors are becoming more integrated into global defence OEM ecosystems, enhancing trust-based partnerships that support the India-Australia Defence and Security Cooperation Roadmap.
The collaboration could also serve as a blueprint for future cross-border defense manufacturing operations that combine Make in India with Australian defense Industry Capability projects.
