The Indian Navy’s Chief, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, emphasized the need for 31 more warships and submarines, including six that are part of Project 75 India. Ahead of Navy Day, the Indian Navy made this statement at a press conference, highlighting its dedication to improving its capabilities and independence in defense manufacture.
In order to greatly improve its operational capabilities, the Indian Navy plans to acquire 31 more potent ships. As part of Project 75 India, which aims to build sophisticated conventional submarines outfitted with cutting-edge technologies, such as Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems, six submarines will be the focus of this.
Along with the submarines, the navy also plans to purchase 60 utility helicopters, which will further improve its
India’s strategic objective of lowering reliance on foreign military imports is reflected in the emphasis on domestic construction. As evidence of continuous attempts to establish a strong local defense industry base, India is currently building 62 ships and one submarine.
With at least one ship anticipated to be commissioned per month for the upcoming year, the schedule for commissioning new vessels is ambitious. This is a component of a larger plan to incorporate specialized technologies into the navy.
The goal of Project 75 India (P-75I), a major military acquisition program, is to build six cutting-edge diesel-electric submarines. These submarines will be equipped with cutting-edge technology that increase their operating endurance underwater and improved stealth capabilities.
