“India Will Become the World’s Growth Engine”: PM Modi in Kuwait

During the recent “Hala Modi” event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Indian community in Kuwait and emphasized India’s potential to become the “growth engine of the world.” The importance of India-Kuwait relations is underscored by the fact that this is the first time an Indian prime minister has visited Kuwait in forty-three years.

According to Modi, India has the third-largest start-up ecosystem and is the world’s fifth-largest economy. It also leads the fintech industry. He added that India is now the world’s second-largest producer of mobile phones.

According to the Prime Minister, “The India of the future will be the hub of the development of the world… it will be the growth engine of the world.” He shared his vision for India as a future center for global development. He used the fact that India has installed optical cable that is eight times as long as the distance between the Moon and Earth in the past ten years as an example of the country’s tremendous technological and infrastructure developments.

Modi emphasized the potential for cooperation between Kuwaiti and Indian companies, especially in fields like green technology, healthcare, finance, and smart cities. He highlighted India’s potential to become the “skill capital of the world” and its ability to meet the demands for skills around the world.

The Indian diaspora in Kuwait plays a crucial role in building solid bilateral ties, the prime minister remarked. He thanked the Kuwaiti government for helping Indian workers and emphasized programs like the E-Migrate portal that are meant to protect their well-being.

In an effort to strengthen ties with Indians living overseas, Modi encouraged members of the Indian community to take part in forthcoming events in India, such as the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in January 2025.
