In an effort to strengthen the nation’s defense capabilities, the Defence procurement Council (DAC) of India has accepted five large capital procurement requests totaling ₹21,772 crore. These ships are built for low-intensity marine tasks like search and rescue, coastal patrols, and surveillance. Additionally, they will be essential to anti-piracy efforts in the vicinity of India’s island possessions.
Because of their adaptability and ability to accompany valuable naval assets like aircraft carriers and submarines, these vessels can improve coastal defense capabilities.
This suite consists of next-generation radar warning receivers and sophisticated self-defense jammer pods. By shielding the Su-30 MKI fighter jets from adversary radar and weapon systems while in flight, it is anticipated to greatly increase their operational capabilities.
The Coast Guard will be able to conduct surveillance and coastal security missions more effectively thanks to these helicopters.
Additionally, the DAC authorized the overhaul of vital assets such Sukhoi fighter aircraft engines, BMP infantry combat vehicles, and T-72 and T-90 tanks. The goal of this program is to guarantee these vital military assets’ operational readiness and prolong their service life.
These purchases are a component of a larger plan to improve India’s defense readiness in the face of current security threats.
