Wilson ASA, Norway, receives Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited’s first export order.

For Wilson ASA, Norway, Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited, has launched the first of six 3800 TDW general cargo ships. This occasion demonstrates the CSL group’s commitment to the Indian government’s programs, such as “Make in India,” “Atma Nirbhar Bharat,” and “Make for the World.” These initiatives, which mark a critical turning point in the growth of India’s maritime sector, seek to increase exports and strengthen domestic manufacturing capacities.

Recently, the Royal Norwegian Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission and Minister Counsellor, Martine Aamdal Bottheim, had the privilege of launching a ship. At this momentous occasion, Wilson ASA’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Einar Tornes, accompanied her.

Since its takeover, Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a division of Cochin Shipyard Limited, has advanced significantly in the shipbuilding industry. The yard has successfully delivered two 62T Bollard Pull Tugs to Ocean Sparkle Limited, which is part of the Adani Harbor Services Limited group, and two 70T Bollard Pull Tugs to Polestar Maritime Limited. Additionally, UCSL has received further orders for four more 70T Bollard Pull Tugs—three from Ocean Sparkle Limited and one from Polestar Maritime Limited.

The ecologically friendly diesel-electric ships were designed by the Netherlands-based Conoship International and built for the purpose of transporting general goods in European coastal waterways.

Current Contracts and Orders

Recent contracts with UCSL include:

Ocean Sparkle received a delivery of two 62T Bollard Pull Tugs.

Polestar Maritime received two 70T Bollard Pull Tugs.

As part of repeat contracts, four more 70T Bollard Pull Tugs were ordered—three from Ocean Sparkle and one from Polestar.

These advancements demonstrate UCSL’s dedication to improving its shipbuilding skills and its expanding standing in the sector, especially in light of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat program, which encourages independence in a number of fields, including shipbuilding.
