On December 16, 2024, the Vietnam Coast Guard ship CSB 8005 made its way to Kochi as a component of an international collaboration project with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). Enhancing marine cooperation and interoperability between the coast guard units of the two countries is made possible by this visit.
The crew of CSB 8005 will engage in a range of professional activities during its four-day trip, including as drills centred around Maritime Law Enforcement, Maritime Pollution Response, and Maritime Search and Rescue. Cross-deck training, discussions with subject matter experts, social engagements, and hands-on exercises including large-scale firefighting and oil pollution response displays are among the scheduled activities.
In order to formalise cooperative engagements between the two maritime authorities, the Indian Coast Guard and the Vietnam Coast Guard have an existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) that facilitates the visit. This partnership demonstrates India’s dedication to advancing marine security initiatives in order to fortify relations with friendly foreign nations.
