On February 1, 2025, global ambassadors will visit the Maha Kumbh Mela, marking an important diplomatic occasion. A 118-member team, comprising diplomats and heads of mission from 77 nations, will attend this event in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Following a disastrous stampede during the Mauni Amavasya bathing ceremony that left 30 people dead and several others injured, the visit takes place amid increased security and preparations.
The diplomats would nevertheless go forward with their plans to experience the cultural and spiritual importance of the Kumbh Mela, the greatest public gathering in the world, MEA spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal affirmed in spite of these incidences.
The diplomats will travel by boat to Sangam, where they will have a holy bath before seeing important locations like Akshayvat and the Bade Hanuman Temple. In order to learn more about this momentous occasion, they are also anticipated to interact with the Digital Maha Kumbh Experience Center.
