US Envoy To India Says “It’s A Great Day For Bangalore” Regarding US Consulate Opening In Bangalore

Eric Garcetti, the US Ambassador to India, highlighted the importance of the new US Consulate in Bangalore in enhancing US-India ties during its inauguration on January 17, 2025. “It’s a great day for Bangalore,” said Garcetti. There are plans to launch VISA services as soon as feasible, even though they won’t be accessible during the first year. Garcetti referred to the opening of the consulate as a “new beginning” for US-Indian ties and highlighted the possibility of cooperation in a number of fields, including finance, aerospace, and health. America has profited much from Indian professionals and tourists, he said, acknowledging the contributions of Indian labor to the US economy.

Additionally, local leaders conveyed their excitement regarding the consulate. Biocon Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw emphasized its significance for Bangalore’s international standing and the future of US-India collaborations. Tejasvi Surya, the MP for Bangalore South, emphasized that the consulate will relieve residents of the stress of having to travel to other cities in order to obtain visa services.
