Following successful high-altitude army trials, India will purchase the TRIYAM-3D AI weapon system.

After several successful field tests with the Indian Army in high-altitude border regions, India is getting closer to operational deployment of the domestic TRIYAM-3D autonomous weapon system.

The system, which was created by Bangalore and Dehradun-based BSS Materiel Limited, a member of the BSS Alliance, is a major advancement in India’s efforts to develop domestic military capabilities and breakthrough AI-enabled combat technology.

TRIYAM-3D integrates machine vision, acoustic AI-based UAV threat detection, and artificial intelligence-driven firing control.

Weapons up to.50 caliber can be integrated using the modular system.

In collaboration with the Indian Army, field testing was conducted, including deployments in the Hersel Valley in Uttarakhand and other northern frontier regions at elevations of roughly 14,000 to 14,500 feet.

TRIYAM-3D is a lightweight, portable system with quick assembly and disassembly capabilities that weighs about 60 kg.

The platform offers versatility in a variety of operating circumstances and can be deployed from naval platforms, tactical combat vehicles, strategic bunkers, and all-terrain vehicles.

The process of moving the system from successful field trials to active procurement under the Defense Acquisition Procedure 2020’s Buy Indian-IDDM category has now been started by India’s Ministry of Defense.

This category supports the nation’s broader self-reliance goals in defense production by giving priority to domestically designed, produced, and manufactured equipment with a significant domestic component.

TRIYAM-3D is positioned as an affordable domestic counter-drone system that may improve force protection, border security, and air defense capabilities in difficult operating conditions as drone warfare and swarm attacks become more common on contemporary battlefields.
